What other tests are done for skin allergy?
There are three existing skin tests in order to distinguish what type of skin allergy you have and what caused you to have such kind of disease. The following are those types:
- Patch test – is a test generally done to determine what caused contact dermatitis. It is a test wherein an allergen is put onto a patch. Subsequently, it is positioned on top of your skin.
- Intradermal test – is a test done when the possibility that you are allergic to penicillin or insect venom is high. Amounts of purified allergen extracts are inserted into your arm’s skin.
- Skin prick test – is the most often performed with small drops of purified allergen extracts are punctured into the dermal surface. It is usually an answer to possibilities of allergen within the skin.

What are the symptoms of skin allergy?
The most common condition associated with the symptoms of allergies is known as an “allergic triad” such as eczema, runny nose and asthma.
Symptoms of skin allergy include:
- intense itching, blisters with oozing and crusting
- skin redness or inflammation around the blisters
- ear discharges/bleeding
- dry, leathery skin areas which may spread to the neck, hands, feet, eyelids, or behind the knee
- Raw areas of the skin – from scratching
